Teo Lee Lang

While studying in Hua Yi Secondary School, Teo Lee Lang had the opportunity to learn Chinese calligraphy under the renowned late Mr Tsue Ta Tee, one of Singapore’s pioneering Chinese calligraphers. However, when Mr Tsue passed on in 1974, Lee Lang stopped pursuing Chinese calligraphy.

It was not until 2015, some 40 years later, Lee Lang rekindled her passion for Chinese calligraphy. While familiarizing herself with what she had learnt from Mr Tsue, Lee Lang embarked on a journey of self-discovery, relishing her reunion with ink and brush. Lee Lang elevated calligraphy art to new heights, with her works encompassing the traditional elements of calligraphy but exuding her unique contemporary flair.

Since 2017, Lee Lang began actively exhibiting her works both locally and overseas, including China, Dubai and South Korea. In 2019, Lee Lang held her solo calligraphy exhibition and published a calligraphy book titled ‘Dancing Ink’ where she showcased a total of 81 unique artworks.

To Lee Lang, Chinese calligraphy is far more than strokes and technique. It reflects both her life values and aspirations, both of which are vividly manifested in every stroke of the brush she takes
